Wednesday Jackpot Triples 17.12.2014

Wednesday jackpot pairs was won by Alan Campbell, Bob Clough and Ron Schintler (2.5 wins, 13 shots up) from Peter Perkins and Vern Pretty (2.5 games and 9 shots up). Special awards were presented to the third best rink of Hugh Ennis, Bob Liddle and Don Washington (2 wins and 16 shots up) and fourth Alan Court, Ron Pickles and Kamarooka Cail (2 wins and 3 shots up). Last placed rink (1 tie and -17 shots) of Brian Curnow, Alan Sim and Alby Clough didn't go home empty handed and were also presented with a momento. The jackpot remains at $150.

Friday Jackpot Pairs 19.12.2014

Friday jackpot pairs was won by Brian Griffin and Bob Clough from runners-up Alby and Helen Clough. Best games were won by Kamarooka Cail and Noel Kilby, Brian Deller and Ken Gloster, Barry Ellis and Laurie Prichard. The $88 jackpot was won by Peter Perkins and David Coles. Consolations winners were Barry Ellis, Bob Liddle, Kamarooka Cail and Hugh Ennis. The next jackpot pairs will be held on Friday January 2nd.

Maximum Score

In last Saturday's pennant the division 3 rink of Brett Fuller, Rick Robertson, Herb Mensforth and Noel Kilby (s) scored the maximum score of 8. It occurred on the 21st end and proved to be the turning point in the match as it took them from 16 - 23 to 24 - 23. They went on to win 33 - 25.

Best Performed Rink (Rd 9)

Three weeks ago Paul Moller was going to throw his bowls into the pool next door. On Saturday he led his team of Paul Vlaeminck, John 'Mr Sheen' Crawford and Barry Edwards to a magnificent 37-11 victory. Three weeks is a lifetime in bowls! The guys will be able to talk about the turn around over their meals at the Brian Boru this week.

New Club Champions

Liam Crapper and Susan Howes have added their names to the latest chapter of our club's history following their Club Championship wins this week. Liam scooted away to what looked like a match winning lead of 20-10 in his final against Rod Pearce. But when Rod fought back to 21-19 Liam would have been getting worried. He then steadied to take out the final 25-19. The Ladies final between Susan and Bronwyn McDermott was played in very blustery conditions. It was a close game with the scores equal at 15 each. Best Performed Rink Rd 8

Watch out Brian Boru Hotel. This week's best performed rink is a spirited group. Ray Blandthorn (s), Alan Court, Eddie Hogan and Arthur Eaton showed that spirit in their 33-10.75 victory on Saturday. These guys have been there and done it before- not only do their ages add to more that 350 years but they have played in excess of 2000 pennant games between them...these guys are Bendigo East pennant legends!!!

In the last 2 weekends two of Bendigo East's legends have topped 600 pennant games. Arthur Eaton and Kevin Lockett have spent 40 years accumulating these games as well as performing untold duties off the green. Bendigo East owe these two guys big time...they have played a major role in creating the culture that holds our great club together. Thanks and congratulations Arthur and Kevin.
